Brake Press/Shear Operator

The Brake Press and Shear Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the press brake.


  • Sets up and operates press brake
  • Performs regular maintenance of machines, including greasing all fittings, wiping down machines daily and checking fluid levels
  • Inventories all sheet metal
  • Reads blueprints and does lays out material for notches and cutouts
  • Calculates bend allowances for a variety of materials and gauges (sheet metal)
  • Responsible for electrical wiring on machines, outlets and breakers
  • Sets up and operates all shop and field welders and cutting torches.
  • Keeps the floor and shear free of drops of material
  • Programs CNC back gauges on shear and press brake
  • Tags all finished brake metal with correct identification information per the drawings
  • Bundles finished products for shipment to the field
  • Completes ‘shippers’ to accompany all brake metal products to the field
  • Files all drawings and blueprints for finished brake metal products for future


  • 2+ years of Shear/Brake Press Operation
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Good math skills
  • Good work ethic
  • Great team attitude

Work Hours

  • First shift positions from 6:30am-3:00pm
  • Second shift positions from 3:00pm-11:00pm
  • Overtime opportunities available
